My 34th Trip Around The Sun

I think this 34 year old version of me may be my favorite one yet. She drives a incognito Mini Van a.k.a The Chevy Traverse, she’s writing again, more than ever really, and she’s letting things go more and enjoying /holding onto the moments more ( some big ones, some little ones, all special). She’s really gotten to accept, Β know and love herself and her areas of strength as well as those she constantly struggles with. She’s the most comfortable in her own skin that she’s ever been. She’s probably the healthiest she’s ever been. She eats some veggies now! (#adulting) , makes her own body butter, sugar scrubs and bug spray and loves to cook for her family. Most importantly, she’s happy. And content. And her heart is full to the brim. And on this birthday, far more so than on any other that have come before it, I feel really proud of her. Flaws and all.

MAKING : A lemongrass mint sugar scrub
COOKING : My homemade meatballs this weekend
DRINKING : A San Pellegrino Aranciata Rossa as I type this actually.
READING : Still working on Drums of Autumn. Also this essential oils book is a frequent reference. Β 5 Minute Princess stories with Miss Mia and all the touch and feel animal books with Joaquim.
WANTING : To go strawberry picking, but the season might have come and gone already?
PLAYING : car races, babies, memory and go fish, and for music lots of country, mixed with some songs I’ve had on repeat lately: Everybody’s Talkin- Harry Nilsson, So Lonely- The Police, and I Still Havent Found What Im Looking For- U2.
WASTING : Food at time with the kids when they get picky and I try several different options that end up in the trash 😦
WISHING : For a little more organization. Which seems odd at summertime when most people are looking for the exact opposite. Also for more time, is there any way to add more hours into a day? Anyone? Anyone?
ENJOYING : Sweet summertime with my family. The giggles and tan lines, the meals outside on the patio and farmer’s market trips Sat mornings, these things make me happy.
WAITING : For the time to upgrade my phone because photos with the I 7 plus look amazing!
LIKING : How laid back daycare drop offs have been compared to this time last year. Did I just jinx myself? Seriously tho, Joa does so well and escorts Mia and me hand in hand to the door and makes sure to give his sissy and Mama a hug and beijo before we go. That boy!
WONDERING :What this next year has in store…
LOVING : this transition from vacation! If one must come back from a wonderful beach vacation, make sure it is on a week that starts with your wedding anniversary, ends with your birthday and is followed by a long weekend!
HOPING : to figure out the whole moving situation soon.
MARVELING : At the amazing time we had in the Bahamas with my parents. I am so lucky to have such generous parents that could take us on such a wonderful trip! The kids had the best time and we made so many wonderful memories.
NEEDING : To do a deep spring cleaning in our house….yes its summer already, Im behind.
SMELLING : The RMO Aligning Blend I rolled on my wrists this morning. So good!
WEARING : Β Levis, my gold sandals, a pink and white striped tank and my fave olive green summer jacket.
FOLLOWING : My workout plan and loving it! There have been some weeks that havent worked out but for the most part I still try to go to yoga on Mondays, Pilates on wed and barre on Fridays and I really have come to love it.
NOTICING : That my children grew the week we were out of town! Both physically and cognitively and it feels like we came home to a new phase for us.
KNOWING : That things are exactly as they should be. Even when it may not feel like it, there is plan, a reason, a timing.
THINKING : About what concert Mike and I want to try to catch this weekend at Summerfest.
BOOKMARKING : Not a whole lot lately!
OPENING : A Twix bar at 10:23 am and I’m ok with it.
GIGGLING : At the funny sayings Mia has picked up lately! Β “Aww crumbs!” is a popular one as of late and I have no idea where it came from!
FEELING : Grateful. So very grateful and blessed to be living this life and for another wonderful trip around the sun.

Six Years

Six years ago today, he put on a sharp suit and I wore a beautiful white dress and we stood before the people we love and care for most and said I do. Β And you know what? Each year has been better than the last. Have there been challenges? Yes. Do we get along a hundred percent of the time? No. Do we always see eye to eye on parenting our children? Of course not. But each year our love grows, our understanding of each other grows, our friendship grows, our passion grows, our partnership grows.

We have seen each other grow in our careers, into our roles as parents and spouses, as adults as well and I just feel so lucky to have found him, and that he found me and that we found each other.

I’ve always been a bit (ok a lot) of a romantic and I can’t help but get all the more romantical when I think about the odds of us meeting. I mean, we were born in different countries, grew up in different states… if my Dad hadn’t been transferred for work, if that temporary transfer didn’t become a permanent move Β  Β  to America, if I hadn’t given in to my mom’s constant push to go to school in state, if he had gone to another many ifs! But we did! And how amazing is that?! To find someone across the globe that understands you to your core. Who can finish your sentences or better yet knows what you are thinking without you ever saying it, knowing exactly what you need without you ever having to ask for it or sometimes knowing it yourself, someone who feels like home.

So happy anniversary to my love, the one who loves me at my worst and makes me my best, the one who supports me and empowers me and kisses me goodnight. The father of my children and my best friend. I said it on our wedding day and I’ll say it again, Te amo com todo meu coração.
