I just cannot get over the amaaaaazing weather we had last week! I mean, it was the first week in November and we had temps in the 60s and 70s almost every day! And while a little voice in my brain says ahhh global warming! The rest of me is too busy frolicking barefoot through the colorful leaves with my kiddos to care. In Wisconsin it is not the norm at all to have these gorgeous sunny days this late in the year and I for one am not taking it for granted!
I had checked the weather for the week the weekend prior ( I stalk my weather app regularly….how else do people decide what to wear?!) and saw Tues was looking to be a beautiful sunny day. So…I did what I normally try to avoid and worked from home with the kids. Normally the mere thought of this gives me anxiety. I know the kids look forward to seeing their friends at school and learning fun new things, and lets be honest, it is much easier to get work done when there are not two little ones running around. BUT it was just too beautiful of a day and I know we wont have many more this year, so I decided I would just. make. it.work. Wow and I glad I did! Somehow, the kids behaved perfectly and when I needed to work they played (somewhat) quietly, had a snack or watched a show. I got them up early so we could have some fun with the leaves outside before I started my work day, and then while Joa napped and I took my lunch break; Mia and I ventured outside again for some airplane rides, duck duck goose, and a few rounds Candy Land al fresco. We even fit a couple walks around the neighborhood in and paid a visit to our furry friends. Such a great day with my chickadees!
The rest of the week we tried to get outside as soon as we got home, either for a walk or just letting the kids run around the yard. Each day more and more leaves would fall reminding me how short and sweet the fall season truly is; it reminded me of this quote by Thoreau : “Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth.” I am so trying to live by this quote this year!
The weekend also brought us amazing weather so Saturday was of course spent outside! Mike had lots of yard work to do so the kids and I kept him company, playing with sidewalk chalk on the front porch, and of course jumping into the huge pile of leaves he made just for us. Another neighborhood walk happened, that’s just kind of our thing. Joa took a nice long nap, which gave me time to dive into my book for a little while, and loads and loads of laundry were done now that we have a working washer again.
Sunday Mike and I went to the Packer game in Green Bay! While the game was totally disappointing, it was so nice to spend a day together! It felt like we were back in college or something ha! And while I did miss Mia and Joa quite a bit ( just being honest!) it was so so nice to have a whole day where it was just about the two us and enjoying each other’s company.
Hope you all had a wonderful first week of November, and that the weather treated you well!
