What we’re eating this week:
I made these homemade frozen yogurt popsicles for the kids; but Mike and I are totally guilty of raiding the stash during our late night movie watching sessions.
We have also been putting Cream City BBQ sauce on anything we deem appropriate and also tried using their MKE Rub on some homemade fries…highly recommend!! Not only are their products delicious, for each bottle of sauce or rub sold they provide one meal to a person in need! That is my kind of company!
What I’m reminiscing about:
Traveling! I have the travel bug bad right now and can’t stop daydreaming about places we’ll go. Mid August we are going to spend a whole week at a cabin my parent’s rented and I can.not.wait. Just Mike, me, the kids and my parents. Shorts and tees, sandy bare feet, my little fishies swimming in the lake, bonfires and the smores that come with it, pontoon riding, and no schedule to keep, the best!
What I’m loving:
This gorgeous necklace my parents got me on their cruise through Eastern Europe and Russia! It had the sweetest gold and swarovski crystal hearts on it! Swoon!
What we’ve been up to:
Soaking in as much Vitamin D as we can! Summer is more than half way over which is hard to believe….so we have been trying to get outside as much as we can! Whether we take the kiddie pool out, go on a hike, have a picnic Panera dinner at the park, or our beloved stroller walks through the neighborhood. We’ve also been spending tons of time in our garden! This is our first year attempting a garden and we have learned a lot. Mike keeps saying this is our learning year, and I’d say our biggest takeaways is we need a fence because bunnies and deer keep eating our strawberries and squash blossoms!
What I’m dreading: When Mike’s summer school hours are over. My husband is a Special Ed Teacher and it has been so nice having a laid back schedule these past couple months! With him finishing at noon Mon-Thurs and being off on Fridays it has been wonderful having him be able to help around the house more and work on projects we have talked about for months! Dinner is usually made or being made when I get home from work/picking up the kids at daycare and that has been amaaaazing! So blessed!
What I’m working on:
Not worrying about the small stuff. You know the poem by Ruth Hulburt Hamilton that says:
“The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.”
I need to constantly remind myself of this as I am always rushing and stressing to keep the house in order and then feel like I don’t have enough time with my littles. I need to be ok in the beautiful mess now, because I can have a clean house any time in my life but these precious moments with my babes? They are gone in a flash!
What I’m excited about:
The Gilmore Girls Reunion Episodes!! OMG you guys! I know it’s not for a while but I looooved this show and watched it with my Mom all the time and was over the moon to hear they were doing this! And have you seen the preview? Ugh, amaze!
What I’m watching/reading:
We just watched two very different but very good movies. The Life of Adaline and Spotlight. Recommend both if you haven’t seen! Also at the edge of my seat for the Bachelorette finale next week and to find out what the heck is happening on PLL!!
After reading a friends post on Outlander I finally caved and ordered the third book Voyager! I cannot wait for it to arrive and I NEED to finish it before Season 3 starts!
What I’m listening to:
Mia ( My four year old) has had me playing JT’s Cant Stop the Feeling on a loop for almost a week now. When I do get a chance to pick I’ve been gravitating to:
Fifth Harmony: Work From Home
Carrie Underwood and Sam Hunt: Heartbeat
DNCE: Cake By The Ocean
Ed Sheeran: Thinking Out Loud
Sia: Cheap Thrills
What I’m wearing:
I always like my clothes flowy and comfy and right now I’m pretty much always in my fave Old Navy Tees and cutoff shorts or a top from my new fav shops The Happy Goose Shop and Gypsy Outfitters. If you like Boho, check these out.
What I’m doing this weekend:
Going to the Washington County Fair! Last year I took Mia and a Mommy Daughter Date and we had theeeee best time! This year the boys will join us and it will be so much fun! We live mins from the fair grounds which is a nice perk!
What I’m looking forward to next month:
Well I already mentioned our family trip to the cabin, so besides that; soaking is these last days of summer with not much on the agenda! June and July were crazy busy so it will be nice to slow down, you know how they say” Summertime…and the livin is easy” 🙂
What else is new:
Mia transitioned to her big girl bed this summer! I have a tour of her room here . It has been a tough transition with either her ending up in our bed or one of us ending up in hers, but remember what I mentioned earlier about babies dont keep? Yeah I just keep repeating that to myself. 😉
Bonus Question: What was your favorite part about summer?
Summer is my faaave so it’s hard to pick! The gorgeous flowers, the hot weather, the sunshine, the sunsets, I love it all!
