One of the things I adore about blogging is the friendships that have come from it. I never expected it; and while I heard about it happening, I was not seeking it when I started this blog. It has been such a wonderful surprise and blessing! How refreshing to meet so many wonderful women who all support each other and their successes. Who celebrate each other and provide a shoulder to lean on or an extra ear to listen when needed. We may have never met if it wasn’t for the magic of the internet, yet I can relate to each of them in so many ways!
I am so grateful I took this dive into the world of blogging and for meeting bloggers like Emily. She is an amazing Mama of three and Author of “Am I a Bad Mom? 13 Embarrassing Parenting Fails”. I love the pure honesty she brings to her blog. She inspires me to open up more, give more. She also has great DIY and Kid Activity ideas! Emily was sweet enough to nominate me for the Liebster Award 🙂
The Liebster award is given by bloggers to other bloggers. It’s not so much an award as a way to connect and show support for each other in the blogging world. It also gives people that read your blog a chance to check out some new blogs, and who doesn’t love random facts? Who I ask? So here w go:
1. Describe yourself in one word
Emotional. Ha! But it’s true 🙂 I blame part of it on astrology, I am a Cancer sign and we are emotional by nature. My husband teasingly calls me a sensatron and my parents call me a Camellia flower because they are so delicate lol. But yes I feel things strongly. The good, the bad I take it all in. I also blame the Italian in me for this.
2. If you could change anything in your past, what would it be?
I could say how I wouldn’t change anything from my past, and that I’ve learned from all my mistakes, which I have in some way or another. However, while I learned a lot on my loooong journey thorough college I would go back and do better. I would have studied a little more, partied a little less; the whole work hard play hard thing comes to mind here. Yeah that wasn’t me then but it should have been. My bestie and Sarah was great at that, me not so much. So I would change that, finish college earlier, started my career earlier but that’d about it.
3. What has been the biggest accomplishment in your life to date?
Becoming a mom! Am I’m not even talking about the pregnancy or the labor but the day to day mom stuff. Each day feels like an accomplishment! I am still learning how to balance working full time, being a mom of two, a good wife, daughter, sister, writer….but I know my kids love me, I know they are taken care of and that is what matters most to me. When Joa makes a face or noise and I know exactly what he needs or wants; when Mia is about to have a tantrum in the middle of the store and I successfully redirect, those are the moments where I feel most accomplished.
4. If you won a million dollars today, what would you immediately spend it on?
Paying off Mike’s student loans! lol Seriously though, that would be number one. Then probably an amazing trip for the whole family. A long one where we tackle our bucket list around the world. Then remodeling the house/ building a house.
5. Where was your best vacation? Why?
Ahhh this is a tough question for me! I have been blessed to go on a few but it’s a tie between our honeymoon in Mexico and Italy with my parents and my brother in 2005. Mexico was amazing ans I loooooved the resort we stayed at Valentin Imperial Maya. The Italy trip was also incredible. We spent two weeks there and hopped all over Italy from San Gimignano to Florence, Rome, Sicily and the Amalfi coast. The sights, the foods! I did catch a stomach bug on the plane there which put a damper of the first leg of the trip but oh Italy you were too good to stay mad at. What I would give to go back! One day with Mike, one day.
6. What is your most prized possession?
My wedding ring? Yes probably as far as possessions go I’d say my ring. It was Mike’s Grandmother’s and means so much to me!
7. Who inspires you? Why?
My parents inspire me all the time! From their work ethic and career paths to their relationship and now retirement life! They always amaze me. They worked hard to give me and my brother an amazing life. They moved away from their home country, their family, friends, everything they knew, all for us. They are as in love with each other today as they were were back then if not more. They were high school sweethearts and still act like they are in high school sometimes. #relationshipgoals. Now they are both retired and let me tell you I am one jelly belly of the life they are living these days, but they more than deserve it!
8. What was your fondest childhood memory?
Time on our ranch in Brazil! I have such great memories of riding horses to the pineapple fields and picking fresh pineapples to bring back to the house. Grilling out by the pool and swimming with all of my cousins. Running through the orchard and picking oranges, passion fruit, starfruit and mangoes. Amazing meals from Lurdes surrounded by family. Stories on the front porch at night under a blanket of stars. It is my happy place to say the least!
9. A memory you would like to erase?
Hmmm I’m sure there’s one I’v blocked ha! But I’m a sucker for nostalgia so I’ll say none.
10. What do you think of social media?
I am an addict! Seriously though I have a problem and am trying to work on it. It is hard when you use your phone to take pics of your littles to not get sucked into one form of social media or another constantly. But I have a goal to be on it a little less and be present a little more at home. With that said I love that it gives my relatives in Brazil an easy way to stay connected to us here in America. I love that it makes it easy to filter photos, document and store it all in one place aka the internet. So it’s a double edged sword yes?
11. Favorite food in the whole world.
Brazilian food! Obviously I am biased but I adore it. If you ever have a chance to try Brazilian cuisine highly recommend it! Second place goes to Italian obviously followed by Mexican food in third place.
